An International Campus
While having a walk along the Ponte Bucci or in the lanes of students’ residences, it is quite common to hear people speaking in different languages and meet people from different cultures. This is because, thanks to the UnicalAdmission program, there are over 950 students from 83 countries; about 600 (incoming and outgoing) students take part in students’ mobility programs such as Erasmus Plus, MOST (non-EU countries) or DUAL (Double Degree).
The University signed international cooperation agreements with 251 institutions from 54 countries. For some years now, UniCal has been selected, among other 30 Italian universities to participate in the largest world expo of Higher Education, NAFSA, that is held in the USA. Recently, University Poles have been started in Cuba and Santo Domingo – the UniCaribe – and a research forum of 22 Italian and Ecuadorian universities has been established in Ecuador – FUCSIE. In addition, two key mobility programs for incoming and outgoing professors and researchers will shortly be launched financed by the Regional Government of Calabria.
Since its establishment, the University of Calabria has been oriented toward internationalization and hosted the first community of Chinese international students in Italy in the late 1970s’. UniCal is a lively community where people can come across the cultural espritfrom all over the world in an environment that encourages socialization and integration, thus making the Campus a place where social cohesion and peaceful living are achieved.
