2000- Degree in Pharmacy achieved at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Calabria, on the 12/04/2000, vote 110/110 cum laude.

2005- She received her PhD in “Methodologies for the development of molecules pharmacological interest” XVIII cycle (S.S.D. CHIM/06) from the University of Calabria.

2006- Researcher of Organic Chemistry SSD CHIM/06– at The Department of Pharmacy, Health and Nutritional Sciences (DFSSN) of the University of Calabria.

2018- it was conferred to M.L. Di Gioia the title of the National Scientific Habilitation as an Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry-CHIM-06.

professional experience

In 2019, she was member of the Organizing Committee of the International NATO School SPS ASI 9845535 Advance Study Institute on the: SCIENCE for PEACE and SECURITY titled “Detection, Diagnosis and Health Concerns of Toxic Chemical and Biological Agents” held in Calabria (Italy) from September 29, till October 5, 2019.  During this event leading experts discussed the latest scientific technologies and processes in the context of human exposure and health effects from chemical and biological agents.

In 2017 she obtained a funding of the basic research activity referred to in art. 1, paragraphs 295 and following of the law 11 December 2016 n.232.

2012 – 2015 Project SILA - Integrated System of Laboratories for the Environment has been funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) within the PON Project Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013 for Convergence Regions. She was awarded, in 2004, with the “Premio Anassilaos Giovani 2004” conferred by the Anassilaos Cultural Association to Calabrian researchers distinguished by their educational and professional curriculum.

research fields

M.L. Di Gioia research area is focused on the design, synthesis and characterization of molecules with potential biological activity, in particular the solution and solid phase synthesis of peptides. In this field, her chemical research in recent years is aimed at the development of new eco-compatible processes for the synthesis of bioactive molecules in relation to the principles of Green Chemistry.

In her academic career M.L. Di Gioia has published more than 65 papers on international scientific journals (peer-reviewed). She has been author of a paper highlighted in Synfacts 2009.

She actively participates in national and international scientific meetings with more than 60 posters or oral presentations.
