research fields

Main Focuses of the research:

Biochemical, structural and functional characterization of membrane transport proteins, in order to obtain information about their structure/function relationships using multiple strategies including Cys-scanning mutagenesis, "homology modeling", cloning, expression in heterologous host systems, purification and reconstitution of the expressed recombinant proteins into liposomes, followed by evaluation of their kinetic properties by in vitro functional assays.

Evaluation of metabolic reprogramming of the neoplastic cell in the stem cells induction and chemotherapy resistance for the identification of new therapeutic targets.

“In vitro” and "in vivo" assays to evaluate biological activity of natural compounds or newly synthesized molecules and their potential involvement in cell metabolism, in order to identify new nutraceutical compounds and novel potential therapeutic agents for severe human pathologies.
