Welcome Day for international students (Video)

The Welcome Day for international students was successfully delivered on-line on October, 2 2020. It is the first time in our young history, 50 years of academic life, that we offer the welcome day to international students on-line.

The event was organized by the Pro-rector to teaching activities, prof. Francesco Scarcello, the Rector's delegate for extra-EU international actions coordination, prof. Giancarlo Fortino, and the head of the international office, Dr. Gianpiero Barbuto, with the objective to provide fundamental information to the international students enrolled (or to be enrolled) in our University.

Specifically, after a general presentation of the University of Calabria, highlighting Unical history, the current organization and the provided services by prof. Fortino, Dr. Barbuto illustrated the role of the Welcome Office as the main interface to Unical services access for the international students. Then, prof. Fortino and prof. Scarcello provided information on how to retrieve all possible information on departments, degree courses, course schedule and connections to on-line classes via teams by referring to the website www.unicaladmission.it as entry point. Moreover, prof. Longo gave a demo on the Smart Campus app that the students need to use to access the physical classes on the Campus.

Finally, the session of Questions&Answers took almost one hour during which the organizers, supported by the delegates of all departments, provided explanations to important questions and issues (Q&A session).

We have been strongly working in the last ten years to elevate the degree of internationalization of Unical from the teaching viewpoint and currently Unical has the highest number of international students among the universities of Southern Italy, almost 1000 students.

We are still working hard to allow international students to experience, even on-line during this COVID-19 period, a piece of the world on our Campus, more than 75 Countries are represented by students, coming from all these Countries.

We deeply hope to meet all the new international students in our Campus, as soon as the pandemic emergency will allow us to do it.
