UNICAL - Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology

Students graduated are furnished the scientific basis, theoretical preparation and necessary training to practice the profession of pharmacist and to operate as drug and health care product ( medical and surgical presidia, health care products, cosmetics, dietetics, herbal products, diagnostic products, chemical- clinical etc.) expert in the respective line of industrial activity. As achieving the specialist degree and its related qualifying exam, the graduated student may practice according to the law 85/432/ECC the profession of pharmacist and is authorized to practice the professional activities provided by the specialist degrees in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy. The Degree Course in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology offers the undergraduate a well-structured basic training pertaining to the subjects and methodologies that define the production, formulation and drug analysis sphere and it correlates to the knowledge and regulations of drug distribution. The degree course lasts five years and the theoretical and practical cycle of studies is organized into a propaedeutical three-year periods, followed by a two-year guidance period which was initiated for a better professional competence fulfilment. The new didactics organization provides two curricula: Drug and Bio-technological innovation both corresponding to a total of 300 formative credits. To complete the degree course a professional training period is provided at a local community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy. The training period is calculated in two trimesters distributed during the fourth and fifth year course. To obtain the Degree each student must pass the final exam which consists in the discussion of a compilation or experimental thesis. After passing the graduation exam the student obtains the title of Doctor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology unrelated to which training curriculum chosen.

These guide-lines differentiate each other beginning from the third year of course.
