Short Bio
Pasquale LEGATO graduated with honors in Industrial Engineering at the University of Calabria (Rende, Italy) in 1981.
In 1983 he started his tenure track at the University of Calabria, where he became tenure researcher in 1986.
He was visiting scientist at the Duke University (Durham, NC, USA), the Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale "G. Ferraris" (Turin, Italy) and
the Department of Computer Science - University of Torino (Turin, Italy).
He is currently an associate professor of Operations Research at the Department of Electronics, Computer and System Sciences of the University of Calabria.
His research activities focus on the development and analysis of queuing network models for logistic systems,
discrete-event simulation and the integration of simulation output analysis techniques with combinatorial optimization
algorithms for real-life applications in Transportation and Logistics. He teaches courses on probability, statistics,
queuing and simulation for system performance evaluation.
He is a member of AIRO (Italian association of Operations Research), INFORMS and IAME (International Association of Maritime Economists).
He acts as a reviewer for international journals.
He is also in his fourth term as member of the Executive Board of the University of Calabria (1992-94, 2005-07, 2007-09, 2010-12),
as well as university delegate for the supervision of associations and spin-offs from the University of Calabria. On behalf of the
Department of Electronics, Computer and System Sciences, he is responsible of joint activities on R&D in the field of simulation and optimization via simulation.
