Purpose and description

Eduroam, education Roaming, is a service that provides secure wireless access to the network.

Users visiting a participating Institute are able to use the local wireless network from the host institution, using the same credentials (username and password) in use in their own institution, without the necessity on handling any formalities at the host institution.

The purpose of the Italian Federation Eduroam is to facilitate the network access to GARR and to the other networks connected, to the mobile users (roaming users) of participating organizations.

The Federation is coordinated by the Consortium GARR, which acts as the Italian representative to the other federations and confederations.

Eduroam is a TERENA trademark.

How to request and get the service

UNICAL users:

The service is automatically available to all lecturers and to the administrative technical staff registered on soldi.unical.it, and to all students registered on the SOS service.

EDUROAM external users:

you must contact your facility. You can check if your institution joined Eduroam by accessing to this dedicated page

 

Modalità di fruizione

Access mode

In UNICAL:

By connecting to Wifi networks with their name beginning with “eduroam”, like eduroam-WifiUNICAL”.

Outside UNICAL:

By connecting to Wifi networks named “eduroam” or with a name like “eduroam-xxxxx”.

To connect automatically with your smartphone shot with a QR code reader app and follow the instructions.
