HOW TO ENROL IN THE FACULTY
Students intending to enrol in a three-year Degree Course or in a Specialist Degree Course at the Faculty of Humanities will have to submit an application form only through the website: http://www.segreterie.unical.it/ starting from 1st August of each year.
Applicants to a Degree Course must have or acquire good knowledge of general matters and pass a compulsory admission test (multiple-choice test) before the beginning of the academic year. The Degree Course will set out the specific objectives that the students who fail to pass such test will have to achieve during the first year of the course. For this purpose, the Degree Courses will organise specific additional classes.
Applicants to a Specialist degree course are also required to pass a compulsory admission test (multiple-choice test) before the beginning of the academic year. This test is aimed at assessing students’ level of knowledge according to the methods laid down in the Call for Applications (Bando di Ammissione).

How the Degree Course is organised
The Degree Course in Modern Languages and CuItures consists of a single training curriculum aimed at providing graduates with basic theoretical and scientific knowledge on at least two modern foreign languages and literatures (including Albanian, Anglo-American, French, Hispano-American, Romanian, Spanish and German). Students will have to chose at least one EU language. The Degree Course, therefore, focuses on two languages of European origin and their relevant literatures. For each language chosen, students will have to pass three language exams and the corresponding literature exams in three years. Besides good command of the written and oral languages studied, as well as of the literatures and cultures related to these languages, students will have to acquire appropriate information on historical, social and anthropological issues of the corresponding geographical areas.
Moreover, students will study the following subjects: linguistics, Italian language and literature, philology, teaching methodologies, history and philosophy.
The Degree Course lasts three years. Students will have to earn 180 credits (CFUs) to successfully complete the course and obtain a degree in Modern Languages and Cultures.
Teaching activities are organised as follows:
- courses and teaching modules;
- lectures, seminars and practical classes;
- laboratory practice of studied foreign languages.
The Faculty uses a combined method of teaching: lectures alternate with specific exercises aimed at achieving the learning objectives of the course.

How the Degree Course is organised
The Degree Course in Education Sciences provides:
- basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills in the field of pedagogical sciences and methodological and didactic competences;
- Knowledge and competences in philosophy, sociology and psychology mainly related to education in general and to the theoretical, epistemological and methodological aspects of teaching;

How the Degree Course is organised
The Interclass degree course in Communication and DAMS provides graduates with rigorous background on the several theoretical and practical aspects of communication and artistic and multimedia languages, as well as the “virtual” language (Internet). The curriculum includes theory of languages, semiotics, cognitive models, public communication and advertising communication and fundamental artistic languages (from the more traditional languages of music, theatre and cinema, to the more recent languages such as multimedia and virtual languages).
Teaching activities consist in lectures, interdisciplinary seminars, lessons held by experts and laboratory activities differentiated according to the specialization chosen by the students; internships in companies, research centres and institutions and journalism schools. Educational objectives
Students will have to earn 180 CFUs in three years to obtain a degree in Tourism Sciences. The curriculum includes English and another foreign language chosen by the student. The Degree Course is organised in two alternative specialisations totalling 20 credits each: the first focuses on economics and management and the second on arts and culture.
Graduates in Tourism Sciences will:
- have breath of knowledge of economic and business, historic and artistic, sociological, anthropological, geographical and territorial, as well as legal aspects relating to the tourism sector;
- have good knowledge of the social and market research methodologies, with special competences in the collection, measurement and processing of data pertaining to social analysis;

How the Degree Course is organised
The Interfaculty Degree Course in Primary Education Sciences is designed for those who are willing to teach in kindergartens and primary schools. It is aimed at training teachers with skills in childhood development.
The course lasts four years and consists in a two-year common curriculum and two different specialisations (two years each) in kindergarten teaching and primary school teaching.
Students can choose the specialisation at the end of the second year. Students choosing a specialisation can also obtain a degree in the other specialisation by studying a further year. At the end of the four-year course, students can apply to enrol in a supplementary course to obtain a specialisation as special education teachers for disabled children in early childhood and primary schools.

How the Specialist Degree Course is organised

Students of the Specialist Degree Course in History of Art will develop sound and rigorous basic methodological and historical knowledge of history of art between Middle Age and Contemporary Age.
Graduates will be equipped with fundamental, theoretical instruments to understand the evolution of the relationships between society and art in the concerned period.
Teaching activities consist in lectures, practical classes, laboratory practice, open courses and training periods and internships. The Faculty can also organise integrated courses and common modules.
The methods of examination, the exam sessions, as well as the assessment related to the other activities (laboratories and training periods) and the final exam are set out according to the provisions laid down in the University Teaching Regulations, the Faculty Regulations and the Degree Course Teaching Regulations.
Employment Opportunities
Career opportunities for Graduates in History of Art include teaching positions in schools, positions in museums and superintendencies, specialist consultancy for the cultural industry and in the education and promotion of historical/artistic heritage.

How the Specialist Degree Course is organised
Students of the Specialist Degree Course in Communication Theory and Public Address will develop in-depth knowledge of the logical, argumentative structure of communication texts; broad knowledge of the several theoretical approaches of communication and information; ability to transform ideas into communication texts; command of IT tools; knowledge of the different forms of public address and communication registers.
Teaching activities consist of lectures, multidisciplinary integrated courses, practical classes, laboratory practice and seminars, complementary learning activities, training periods, advanced specialisation laboratory practice.
Employment Opportunities
Career opportunities include positions in the analysis, development and implementation of integrated communication systems, with special reference to the new communication media and in the communication and dissemination of knowledge by means of new technologies in private and public organisations as well as other organisations in the information and communication technology industry.
