HOW TO ENROL IN THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Economics does not require the students to take a selective entry test. There is nevertheless a non-obligatory entry test to evaluate basic competences in some degree courses. Other degree courses do have admission tests.

Degree course in Economics
Students who want to enrol in the degree course in Economics must have:
- appropriate level of logical-analytical abilities;
- basic algebra and geometry skills.
The initial preparation of the students is assessed by a multiple choice written test which is held before the beginning of the first teaching period of the first year of the course. The contents, the date and the style of this test will be published in the Admission Proclamation. The students who do not have a suitable initial preparation will have to attend a pre-course remedial programme for logical-analytical abilities and basic mathematical skills. The course finishes with a final test. Students who pass the test will satisfy the entrance needs for the course. Students who fail the test can do it again in any examination session scheduled in the academic calendar.
Students cannot take the examination of Mathematical Methods for Economics if first they have not passed the entrance test.

Degree Course in Business Economics
There is an obligatory admission test for students of this degree course. The test results show if any students have a lack of competence in essential logical-mathematics skills. The score achieved in this test will not be used in the admission lists for first year students. However, anybody who scores less than 30% will be marked as having an insufficiency. Students who do not sit the admission test will be attributed as having an insufficiency.

Degree Course in Territorial and Construction Estimative Geological-Topographical-Cartographic Studies

First year students must have basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry. Students sit a special test to assess their knowledge of these subjects. However, the students who do not pass the test can enrol in the degree course, after having attended a two-week pre-course (around 40 hours) on the above subjects, which concludes with a self-evaluated second test.

Therefore economics, law, mathematics, business economics, statistics, business management and management, English language and a second foreign language, as well as computer science are taught. Beginning from the third year, the four curricula have the objective of strengthening some specific competencies so as to offer graduates the chance of a more effective and immediate insertion in the labour market, immediately after graduating from the three-year course. The four curricula, nevertheless, have been also organised from the perspective of the students who want to continue their university studies with a Specialised Degree or a Master’s Degree. For all these reasons, the curricula offer a combination of courses and of original and interactive didactic activities such as practical exercises, in company business case studies, simulations, business games, training programmes and placement training, suitable to allow an immediate and effective insertion in the job market. They also allow students the possibility of doing further studies to enable them to get post-graduate qualifications in the same specialised area or in parallel educational programmes (all the areas of business economics and management; the area of technology management, nets management, the area of business law, etc.).
